NORPA is seeking a school to perform in Engine...

A local school will work with the Engine’s creative team to develop an innovative aspect of NORPA’s 2010 production.

By April Julian Louis will send to participating schools a rehearsal pack with instructions to devise integral scenes within the play’s action.

Based on the role of a chorus in Greek theatre the 5 member chorus within Engine will provide movement and action expressing further insight into the story and heightening the play’s dramatic turning points.

Engine will be touring to several venues in the north coast and in each town a new chorus will join the professional cast. In the months leading up to the performance of Engine, NORPA will be working directly with drama schools and drama teachers to help create these scenes and rehearse the young actors seamlessly into Janis Balodis’ gripping script.

Bell Shakespeare Auditions
Coinciding with Bell Shakespeare’s performances in Lismore, there is a number of opportunities for drama and English students to directly interact with professional performers, and with The Bard’s immortal text.

After the matinee performance of Twelfth Night on 4th August at Lismore City Hall, NORPA will be facilitating Q&A sessions with the cast.

Also, during the week of 3rd to 7th May, professional actors from Bell Shakespeare will be in the region holding the annual Regional Performance Scholarship auditions. This is a unique opportunity for committed and passionate young actors to spend a week in Sydney working directly with the Bell company. The prize includes return travel and accommodation for the winner and their parent/guardian, workshops and master classes with the Bell Shakespeare Company.

To audition, students must be over 16 years of age and be available in the summer holidays of 2011. Those auditioning will be expected to deliver a two-minute Shakespeare monologue of their choice. Application forms will be available from NORPA early in 2010.
