Leo’s charm and worldliness intoxicate Cassie and her relationship with Darren is slowly poisoned. As Leo becomes more entwined in their lives, their sense of who they are is overturned. Cassie offers to marry Leo for money and to ensure he is able to stay in Australia. What follows is an intense fight for love. This dynamic new NORPA production has been inspired by the culture of our region and is a dark and poetic thriller, making use of projections, movement and compelling text. The Bloody Bride is a new Australian play by Hilary Bell. Kyas Sheriff returns to the region after establishing her acting career in Sydney and Brisbane and is joined by highly acclaimed actor Ed Wightman and local actor Shane Nagle. NORPA is one of Australia’s leading regional performing arts companies. Since its inception in 1993, NORPA has created innovative, bold and passionate theatre, aiming to give a national voice to regional Australian culture. Hilary Bell has written for stage (Wolf Lullaby, Fortune), radio (Wreckage, Cruisin’, Love’s Delightful Labours), screen and music theatre. Her plays have been produced in Australia, the UK, Europe and the US. At present, she is writing a musical, Do Good And You Will Be Happy, and adapting Journey To The Stone Country for the screen. |
