Lismore City is blessed with two of the region’s most prominent and well-loved venues, Lismore City Hall and the Star Court Theatre, both of which are under the loving care of NORPA. Both venues host a variety of community and touring events throughout the year, from private celebrations, fundraisers and dinners to film screenings, trade shows, seminars, meetings and community events. The two venues are recognised as comfortable, practical and accessible and have been used, quite literally, for every imaginable kind of event. Lismore City Hall has hosted such diverse happenings as the Saturday night dances in the ’60s, Skyhooks and Split Enz concerts in the ’70s, Debutante Balls in the ’80s and many, many NORPA events through the ’90s to the current day. Similarly a broad range of Lismore locals shared their first kiss in the back row of the Star Court Theatre in its halcyon days watching Jaws or E.T. Dating back to July 1921 as an open-air cinema, the Star Court hosted Musical Festival Society shows, ABC Celebrity concerts and was refurbished in 1929 to allow for RCA Photophone sound for Alias Jimmy Valentine. In 1996 well-known local businessman Dr Floriano Volpato (OAM) purchased the Start Court Theatre, maintaining it in his family as a valuable resource for performing arts of all genres and styles to this day. Both venues are conveniently located in Lismore’s thriving CBD and offer a very high quality of professional technical equipment and support to venue hirers. So, when planning your next event, whatever shape or size it may take, contact NORPA first for a quote and further information on the facilities and the exceptionally high level of event support available.
